Following our success in the Independent Public School (IPS) development process, the Principal, Karen Lockyer, and Chair of School Council, Kati Tonkin, attended the IPS launch on 21 October. The Premier and the Minister for Education were in attendance, along with the Director General of Education, Sharyn O’Neill. The Principal, Chair and members of the Administration have attended five transition workshops over the past few weeks which are designed to help us make the most of the opportunities that greater autonomy and collective responsibility will bring.
On 1 November we held our Annual Public Meeting. The specialist teachers presented reports on their programs and the Chair presented her annual report on the activities of School Council in 2016.
Two further general meetings will be held in November and December as we begin our transition to IPS. Parents who have any questions about IPS or the activities of School Council are welcome to contact the Chair at kati.tonkin@uwa.edu.au
