Fremantle Dockers Visit North Perth Primary School

Nat and Ed Visit North Perth PS

The Fremantle Docker’s captain and 2015 Brownlow medallist, Nat Fyfe, and impressive young midfielder, Ed Langdon, made a surprise visit to the students of Rooms 7 and 10 during physical education. The students were treated to three football activities with Nat and Ed, and concluded with a quiz, giveaways and a signing opportunity. All the students had a ball, as can be seen in the pictures below.

A big thank you to Dan Marie, from East Perth Football Club, Graham Mills, from the Fremantle Dockers Football Club, and to Nat and Ed for their time.

Rugby WA Visit – Senior Sport

112 students from Rooms 12, 13, 14 and 15 were given a taste of Rugby Union, to kick off the school year, during their senior sport session. The students were grouped into their factions and, after a warm up of Octopus Tag (Rugby Union style), they rotated through three rugby union stations conducted by Katie, Brody and myself, with the help of their classroom teachers. Our students had a fantastic time, with lots of fun and laughs, evident from the pictures posted.

North Perth Primary School gives a big thank you to Katie and Brody from Rugby WA, for providing our school with this opportunity. An equally big thank you also goes out to Ms Covban, Mrs Chin, Miss Newman and Mrs Knee for their assistance on the day.

New Jumpers for our Girl’s Dockers Cup Teams

Our North Perth Primary School girls will be wearing new AFL jumpers for their next Dockers Cup carnival, to be held at Charles Veryard Reserve on Friday 10th November 2017. We were able to purchase these jumpers with the assistance of a $500.00 subsidy from the West Australian Football Commission.

The girls love the design and could not wait to put these new jumpers to the test.

All girls, from Years 4 to 6, interested in participating in the Dockers Cup carnival will start training each Wednesday of Term 4, on the oval during their lunch time break, leading up to the carnival.

Any parents interested in assisting at the Dockers Cup carnival should email their interest to:

George.Naumovski@education.wa.edu.au

I look forward to the girls having another wonderful experience at this year’s event.

Cross-Country Fun Run

Students tackled the new-look course with enthusiasm and energy. It was great to see so many students challenging themselves to run as many laps as possible in the given time. Don’t forget that sponsorship money is due back on the first day of Term 3 (Tuesday, 18 July).

Eagle’s Cup and Docker’s Shield

Congratulations to all our Year 5 and 6 students who competed in our 2017 Eagle’s Cup and Docker’s Shield fixtures. They all competed with great enthusiasm, skill, determination, and sportsmanship. Mr Naumovski Hits it for Six

Recently the WACA hosted the Community Junior Cricket Council Awards Night and during the evening they recognised the excellent efforts of school ambassadors in providing students the opportunity to learn, play and enjoy the game of cricket.

The seven Regional Ambassadors of the Year and the Ambassador of the Year were announced.

Congratulations to our energetic and very dedicated Physical Education teacher, George Naumovski, on being named the Ambassador of the Year for the Eastern Suburbs Region. This award recognises the work George has done to promote cricket including physical education skill sessions, lunch-time competitions, student participation in the T20 Carnivals and State Finals, and coordination of the in2Cricket after-school program and the recent T20 Blast Cluster Carnival.

All Girls Football Lunchtime Visit

The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) and the East Perth Football Club provided our girls, from Years 1 to 6, with an “All Girls” football experience on our oval last Friday 17 February 2017. Rachel Ortlepp, from the Coastal Titans Women’s Football Club, and Rob Geersen, President of the Coolbinia Bombers Junior Football Club, both spoke to our girls about the opportunities and pathways available to them with the new Australian Football League Women’s competition. Rachel and Rob then provided our girls with a variety of football activities, on our school oval, in a “Girls Only” event, which was enjoyed and appreciated by all.

I would like to thank Rachel Ortlepp, Rob Geersen, the WAFC, and Corey Ranger, Royals District Development Officer, for providing this wonderful opportunity for the girls at North Perth Primary School.
