On Wednesday, 13 September our Year 1 and 2 teachers visited their colleagues at Middle Swan Primary School. As part of our plan targeting writing at North Perth we have begun implementing the Talk 4 Writing program this year. Middle Swan are three years into their delivery of the program. The purpose of our visit was for teachers to collaborate with their peers and see the benefits of the Talk 4 Writing program and explicit vocabulary programs.
The teachers spent time in a number of Year 1 and 2 classrooms observing how the teachers delivered the Talk 4 Writing program at its different stages. They were also able to see how the students learn using this approach and the standard of their writing as a result.
Next term our Kindy, Pre-primary and Year 3 teachers will also be visiting Middle Swan Primary School with the same purpose.
