It has been an exhausting but fun first three weeks of school for the children in Room 21. We have had a fantastic, positive start to the year and are thoroughly enjoying so many “firsts” we just can’t wipe the smiles off of our faces.
On Wednesday 1 February we began our first year of full-time schooling in our beautiful new classroom with so many fun areas to learn and play. We have especially loved using our book corner and our quiet play area, complete with tee-pee and cuddly critters.
We are learning and sharing on the topic of All about me, with posters the children have made of their families, friends, homes and things they are good at. We have also been working on perfecting our name writing and reviewing our sounds and numbers. There has been a focus on developing getting-along skills, being confident students and showing respect for the people and things in our classroom and playground.
In Week 2 we attended our first assembly. We even had our first merit award winners, Eibhlin and Odin. The class earned their first Live The Challenge award from our Physical Education teacher, Mr Naumovski. This was awarded to us for showing such great listening, confidence and respect during our first Physical Education lesson.
We have had a great first few weeks in Room 21 and look forward to sharing our growth and our learning as we fly through our first full-time year at North Perth Primary School.
