Year Three/ Four

Mrs Knee teaches Year 3/4 in Room 15

What a fabulous start Room 15 has had to the beginning of 2010! We all enjoyed our “breaking-the-ice” activities where we learnt a little bit about each other and we will continue to focus on consideration for other people, as the term progresses. It is fabulous to see the air of cooperation amongst the students. Well done guys!
2010 is the Year of Sustainability and accordingly, we have been investigating some exciting elements of biodiversity, where we look at a range of flora and fauna in different environments and how they interact. It has been fun working with our friends in Room 14, as we work cooperatively in teams to research and present a variety of information. Thank you to all the parents who are supporting the homework program, which is now running smoothly.

Year Four

Ms Covban and Mrs Righton teach the Year 4 class in Room 14

Welcome to Awesome 4some class of 2010. We have had a fantastic start to the new school year in Room 14. A smart board has been installed in our classroom which we will utilise throughout the year. Our theme for this term is Biodiversity focusing on the plant and animal kingdom, ecosystems, habitats and food chains/webs/pyramids. The Awesome 4somes have demonstrated enthusiasm and ability in researching information on this topic. The students have written and published an Australian Animal Report which they will orally present to their peers.
We have integrated our learning program with Mrs Knee’s Year 3/4 class in the curriculum areas of Science, Society & Environment and Technology & Enterprise. The students are designing and constructing 3D models/dioramas of an Australian ecosystem and are required to bring their T & E materials on a Thursday.
Commencing last Friday our Year 3 and 4 classes are involved in a collaborative learning program in which the students are divided into their faction groups. Learning activities include dance, nutrition, Health Education (You Can Do It) English, mathematics and the use of ICT.
