Year Three

Room 2 - Miss Julie Fort

About the class:
Welcome to our class; Room 2 Year 3. Our school vision is: Extending the performance of all students. This can only be effectively achieved if the students are willing to extend their performance and in our classroom each student shows a great enthusiasm for doing just that at every opportunity. Everyone strives to do their best and they are all very keen to learn and to contribute to the class. A very important feature of our classroom is the care and concern each student shows toward the other students in our class. We have a very strict No Put Down policy and always try to speak positively about each other. Every Friday afternoon we hold a class meeting. At this meeting students are encouraged to take ownership of some of the decisions that are made in class and we discuss our problems and celebrate our successes.

My Classroom Philosophy:
I strongly believe that there are certain conditions under which students learn best and I strive to keep these in my mind when I am planning, presenting and assessing learning opportunities, setting up the classroom and in all my interactions with the students.
• Students learn best when they feel appreciated, affirmed and valued.
• Students learn best when they are encouraged to strive to achieve their best and to take a pride in these achievements.
• Students learn best when they are encouraged to have-a-go, take a risk and are prepared to make mistakes.
• Students learn best when their individual needs are considered and accommodated. This includes their academic, social, emotional and physical needs. Students learn in different ways, at different rates and are motivated by different factors.
• Students learn best when they are doing, exploring and discovering for themselves.
• Students learn best when they have an opportunity to reflect on their learning both individually and with other students and adults.

I also strongly believe that students need a wide variety of positive role models in order for them to form the values and attitudes that will help them become fully functioning adults. They need to see others, especially the significant adults in their lives, respecting each other, caring for our world, taking pleasure in learning and modelling fair, consistent behaviour. I cannot expect my students to love themselves, each other, learning and the world if I do not.

Above and beyond everything else I believe students should have ample opportunity to have fun in my class and that they know I am having fun too and that I am happy and honoured to be there with them.

Year Three

Room 1 - Miss Kym Jaeger

Hello, my name is Miss Jaeger and I am proud to be one of the newest members of North Perth Primary School’s staff. As a parent of a student in my class you can be assured that I will provide an engaging and individualised classroom curriculum within a respectful and stimulating environment, where your child is supported through all their learning journeys.
This year is set to be an exciting one! A new teacher, a fresh classroom and a program crammed with exciting learning throughout the terms. The children even got to contribute to the classroom suggestion box, requesting to learn about topics they were interested in. Greek Mythology seemed a big hit, so that will certainly be a topic we explore. With Australia’s environmental focus being Forests this year, we are also hoping to delve into the mysterious depths of West Australian forests and explore their ecology.
It has been a promising start to the year already, with many eager students who know exactly what they want to gain from their learning! I look forward to teaching the super stars of Room 1 and extending the performance of all students.
