Support-a-Reader

A joint parent/school reading initiative

Assisting students to become confident readers is an important aim for our school. We know that regular practice can be of great help in achieving this. This program relies on volunteers who have attended the two workshops and are prepared to come into the school for one hour a week and listen to students read on a one to one basis.

In 2010 the program is running Monday to Thursday from 9am - 10am. We currently have 14 volunteers on the roster and are looking to increase the number every term to allow more students exposure to one on one reading.

The reading workshop was held in Term 1, 2010 and was well attended by parents and volunteers.

Volunteers Needed

We are always looking for parent volunteers to join the Support a Reader program. If you can attend for 1 hour a week between 9am and 10am, on any day, and would like to be apart of this rewarding experience please contact Andrew Streeton on 93287104.
